Mattia Bertschi
Mattia Bertschi is a Swiss entrepreneur, biomedical engineer, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Aktiia.
Bertschi obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne in 2005. His doctoral research focused on biomedical signal processing and biophysical modelling, specifically studying the electrical and mechanical activity of the intestine.
Before co-founding Aktiia, Bertschi held the position of Section Head – Signal Processing at CSEM SA, the Swiss innovation centre, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. During his tenure there, he led a team of 18 engineers for seven years. His leadership and communication skills were highly regarded throughout his time at CSEM.
Throughout his career, Bertschi has made significant contributions to the scientific community. He holds six patents and has authored one book, three book chapters, four journal articles, and 31 proceedings. His research has been published in prestigious journals such as The British Journal of Surgery, Annals of Biomedical Engineering, and High Altitude Medicine & Biology.
Besides, Bertschi has diverse interests outside of work. He enjoys sports activities like swimming, running, and cycling, and he is a skilled guitar player. Bertschi is multilingual – besides his native language Italian, he speaks French, English and some German. .
