Smartwatches like Apple’s Series 9 and Google’s Pixel Watch 2 are advancing beyond basic fitness tracking to offer comprehensive health insights. These devices now feature tools like ECGs for detecting heart irregularities, skin sensors for stress management, and sleep trackers. Despite their capabilities, limitations remain, such as the inability to measure blood glucose or pressure noninvasively. Nevertheless, smartwatches empower users with valuable health data, promote proactive health management, and may be covered by some insurance plans. With ongoing research, these wearables are set to play an even more significant role in healthcare.
