Aktiia has developed a wrist-worn optical blood pressure monitor that continuously collects data, amassing the world’s largest dataset of 40 million readings. At a symposium hosted during the 31st European Meeting on Hypertension, global experts discussed the potential of this technology to transform hypertension care. Cuffless devices like Aktiia’s promise a shift from reactive to proactive, personalized care, providing more frequent and accurate readings than traditional cuffs. This innovation could enhance understanding and management of blood pressure, ultimately improving outcomes for millions worldwide. However, challenges remain, such as ensuring accuracy and integrating these devices into clinical practice.
